Sunday, May 24th, 2009So much to do
So much to see
In this little world we live
People to meet
Places to visit
Go on an amazing trip
In a foreign land I stay
Challenges to face everyday
Listen to what others have to say
Learn new cultures on each day
Enjoy sceneries I’ve never seen
Listen to voices I’ve never heard
Savour flavours I’ve never tasted
Walk the path I’ve never travelled
Appreciate the goodness of life
Live out the dreams I have
Gorgeous dawn brings a brand new hope
Majestic dusk welcomes the serenity and peace
Unveil the unknowns
Explore nooks and corners of this globe
Hold onto the faith that lives
With this I cling to my believes
A journey full of adventures
Open my eyes in every single way
A world filled with treasures
In front of our eyes they lay
Dream of a dream
Live out a dream
A dream that persists
And forever lives

Monday, April 27th, 2009Winter Dilemma
Thursday, February 19th, 2009It was -13 °C in the afternoon. The blowing snow was whipping my face frantically at the speed of 28 km/hr, with constant wind gusts of 48 km/hr. The unplowed sidewalks left me with at least 10 cm of snow to sink in (as opposed to walk on). Even though roads were plowed, the blowing snow contributed to poor visibility and hence, bad driving condition. Walking or driving? I think it’s best to stay home during snowstorm ;) Don’t you agree?
Staring in front of window
Sitting in a little cozy room
Listening to soft whispering snow
Waving furiously before meeting its doom
Marvelous winter scene is beyond description
Experiencing the season to truly believe
Some dislike snowy winter with a passion
I appreciate the gift from nature & gladly receive
Long & freezing winter can be annoying
Chattering teeth & shivering bones in the biting cold
Sliding & drifting is frustrating
Making footprints big & bold
Fluffy snow is piling higher than ever
Building a cute little snowman
Cheering me up with his laughter
Rejoicing in this snowy wonderland
A Winding Road
Saturday, December 20th, 2008We may take the same route to work, eating the same food, and doing the same thing from day to day, unconsciously. Can’t we do something different to make life more exciting? Here is a route that I take almost every day, to work, to catch a bus, to the campus, and the list goes on. Even though it’s the same old route, the scenery changes with the seasons. The most amusing sight is spotted during the winter, of course!
This is the so-called shortcut, which located behind my apartment. It connects the parking lot at my apartment to the backyard of a house, situated on the adjacent street. Strictly speaking, it’s considered trespassing to walk on someone else’s backyard. Nevertheless, it has become a norm for people to walk across this narrow creek on a wooden bridge, on a daily basis.
To make things more interesting, this is how it looks after a major snowfall. Surprisingly, there’s always someone who clear the path to ease the walk. I don’t suppose it’s the homeowner of our neighbour. He must be annoyed that the neighbours are walking on his property. Whoever that person is, I really appreciate his time and effort put into clearing the path. Maybe one day, I’ll get up early enough to check out who’s doing such a great job.
The Wondrous Ice
Monday, December 15th, 2008Here are some of my thoughts from today’s experience walking on the ice. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend driving on unfavourable road conditions. Your own safety is more important than being at work on time!
The brook is narrow, the road is wide,
under the dim moonlight, catch a bus ride.
Sliding is easy when road is slippery,
taking baby steps while gliding slowly.
Winter weather may bring dismay,
such as icy morning on this day.
Take a leap or stay stagnant,
it’s up to you which is more important.
Sometimes it’s just too much to bear,
wanting to find some luck to spare.
Ceased to move when someone glared,
keep walking and never be scared.
Oceans are deep and mountains are high,
keep trying and not to sigh.
You may stumble, you may fall,
but press on and never stall.
